 Creative Village also offer specialist art workshops in both jewellery & ceramics. Directors Lucy Addison & Jess Langford both graduated with a BA Honours Degree in Applied Arts for Enterprise. After 3 years of studying jewellery, ceramics & textiles both Lucy & Jess set up their jewellery businesses soon after graduating and 9 years later make their jewellery from the Creative Village Studio. Sharing a passion for making, they decided they wanted to share their skills with as many people as they could and this is when Creative Village was founded.

Specialist Workshops;

Jewellery & Silversmithing

Jewellery workshops run twice a month (usually on a Wednesday evening) from various Teesside venues including Basecamp (Middlesbrough) & Strickies Hub (Yarm). In 2023 jewellery workshops will also run from Creative Village Studio (Stockton High Street). These workshops are usually 2.5 hours long and give an introduction to silversmithing techniques including texturing metal, shaping and forming, measuring, soldering, polishing and finishing with a finished product made to take home at the end of the evening. To book onto a jewellery workshop please follow this link ___________.

Ceramics

Ceramics workshops explore the basics in working with clay with the aim to produce a final outcome in the session. Various clays are used including stoneware, porcelain, porcelain white stoneware and terracotta. The work is then fired in Creative Village’s kiln and either glazed the following session or high fired for a matte finish. The workshops teach techniques in basic clay modelling and joining, hand building, coil building, slab building, mould making, slip casting, press moulding, as well as applying surface decoration and treatments.

Courses

Creative Village offer short courses (of 6/8 weeks) in both jewellery & ceramics. The courses aim to give an introduction to jewellery/ceramics right through to exploring more in depth materials, techniques & processes developing a skill base that can be used to set up a small business, hobby or skill set for a creative career. Each attendee will develop a body of work from test pieces to final/finished pieces within the final weeks. All courses are ran from Creative Village’s studio which is equipped with specialist tools & machinery.
