A bit about us

Creative Village is a community interest company who have been delivering art based workshops in the Teesside area for the past 11 years. Directors Lucy & Jess are both jewellers and would love to share their passion for making with you!

About the workshop

In this workshop you will learn silversmithing techniques including texturing metal, shaping and forming, measuring, soldering, polishing and finishing. We will also experiment with our new rolling mill, pressing beautiful textures into the metal using items such a leaves, feathers, lace etc. We will have lots of things on hand but if you want to bring along your own treasures to try please feel free to do so. You will use copper sheets to practice patterning the metal using various surface decoration techniques including different textured hammers, melting metal, cutting and filing and rolling it through the rolling mill to add texture. When you feel confident we will then work with 925 sterling silver to start making silver pendant which can be cut into any shape.

You will polish & finish your silver pendant in the session and take it home with you the same night.

Due to silversmithing methods this workshop can get a quite noisy when we are using hammers to shape & pattern the metal. Don’t worry, you will enjoy it, even if you do have a slight headache at the end, it will all be worth it!

You don’t need to bring anything, all materials & tools are included in this workshop.

No previous experience needed but good use of fine motor skills required due to the nature of the workshop.

Our studio is above charity Vision 25 facing the high street, next door to Thirteen Group & formerly British Heart Foundation.
Our entrance is the black gate a few doors along from Vision 25. One of us will be at the gate greeting attendee’s to make sure you can find us.
